Thomas Nissen who is serving life in prison for his role in the rape of Teena Brandon and the 19993 murders of Teena Brandon and the killing of two witnesses. His co-defendant John Lotter was sentenced to death. There was some who believe Nissen is the actual killer. The case inspired the 1999 movie Boys Don't Cry.
