Ronald Joseph "Butch" Defeo Jr. is an American mass murderer who was convicted of the 1974 murders of his parents and siblings in their 112 Ocean Avenue home in Amityville, Long Island, New York. The case inspired the book and movie, The Amityville Horror. Defeo died on March 12, 2021 while serving life in prison.

The prison stamped envelope has been completely written in ink by Defeo on both sides and is hand signed twice, once and the front, and again on the back , Ronnie Defeo.
There are a few words written on the back of the envelope in pencil which appear to have been written by his then fiancee.
