SUPERNAUGHT FAQ'S
If you have any questions about ordering, you can email us here. General questions are answered below.
BEWARE of people offering artwork and signatures that are non authentic. Having spent 15 years collecting crime memorabilia and doing our homework to assure the items we offer are nothing but authentic. It is disheartening to see others offering items which are obviously no good. For example, if you see a Charles Manson drawing for $5.00 take a close look at it before buying anything that appears to good to be true.
Why people try and pass something off they know or suspect is not authentic is beyond me, but people will be people. If you bought something and found out it was not what it is said to have been then you know what a crappy feeling that is. Why then try to pass those items off to someone else that doesn't know any better? At www.Supernaught.com we are 100% committed to the integrity of this hobby. I will never knowingly offer anything I suspect might not be real. I've personally bought items which turned out to not be what the person selling them told me and i've NEVER offered those pieces here or anywhere else. In the near future, i'll be listing examples of some drawings that are non authentic which we bought. One girl in Nebraska comes to mind as having sold us ALOT of NON AUTHENTIC items which we've put into a folder titled "FAKES" along with the names of the people selling these items. Look for this in the near future as it seems people are currently trying to sell suspicious items from such individuals as Charles Manson, Danny Rolling, Ottis Toole, Albert DeSalvo, Herbert Mullin, Richard Ramirez, John Gacy and Henry Lee Lucas just to name a few. If it looks to good to be true, chances are that it is too good to be true.
We guarantee all items 100% authentic or your money back.
Why would the media frown on an interest/hobby that they could actually benefit from? The reason is rather simple. When an editor or other media member sets out to do a story their first thought is what positon to take on the particular movement or cause. For example, if a news-magazine editor looks at this website, the individual may or may not sympathize personally with some of its grievances and goals, but he also sees that there will be a strong consensus among his advertisers, people in power and his peers, therefore the attitude of the editor or media is that it should be discouraged. Under these circumstances this individual knows that his magazine, newspaper or television program had better to take on a negative attitude. By taking on a negative attitude the individual feels that that they will gain respect from their advertisers, fellow peers and people in power. Instead of trying to learn the horror of what we don't know the media would rather condemn it. We must not forget the past or it is destined to repeat.
To our knowledge, no university or law enforcement agencies are doing any in depth sociological studies and sharing this information with the public. More and more is learned about the criminal mind, the more we study these individuals and try to learn about why such criminals do what they do. What better way to study these individuals than to deal directly with those responsible. We can never know why these people do what they do by assuming and speculating. The perpetrators and only they hold the answers. No matter how much we study and learn in schools and textbooks, there is no experience better than that of first hand knowledge which newspaper writers and television reporters don't always seek out, most of the time they write their articles based on second hand knowledge and not facts. Yet, they sell more violence, people's suffering, misery and death by selling commercial time to advertisers who pay these networks. They buy and sell crime everyday.
This website is providing a look
into their (the inmates) lives and thoughts, whether in words or color to those
who are interested. We are not forcing anyone to view or purchase anything offered
here. Collecting criminal artifacts is a perfectly legitimate and knowledgeable
interest which for some becomes a hobby. There are collector's who seek items
from such individuals as Hitler, Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Kahdafi, Arafat,
Castro and other leaders who are responsible for the supression, depravation
of human rights and murders of hundreds of thousands. Many of the true crime
authors who are respected in the field of "Serial Murder" correspond
with and visit the same criminals that the media criticizes people for collecting
these items. Are they aware that collectors of items such as the ones offered
here include, but not limited to; law enforcement officers, lawyers, famous
musicians, sports figures, famous actors, military personnel and people from
all walks of life. There is no bias when it comes to someone having an interest
in true crime and its History. Over the many years we have corresponded with
inmates, we've obtained several canteen receipts which show certain infamous
inmates spending up to $10.00 a month (some do and can spend more). Any money
they receive must be spent within the prison or an approved prison vendor, so
that all money stays within the DOC. How is that getting rich? Most of this
money goes to hygeine products, paper, envelopes and postage. If the money were
not on the inmates books, the prison would then supply indigent prisoners with
their hygeine products, postage and stationary. Who pays for the indigent prisoners?
If an inmate is fortunate he or she sometimes has enough money to order art
supplies if the facility has an approved arts & crafts vendor.
It is worth a few dollars to understand why some criminals do what they do and
several States, including the so called Son of Sam states do indeed allow inmates
to work and earn income. We know of inmates who earn wages ranging from 8 cents
an hour to 30 cents. An hourly wage which some inmates are allowed to work doing
different jobs while serving their sentences incarcerated in various prisons.
How can I write to and/or get in touch with an incarcerated individual?
We do not provide information on how to get in contact with anyone incarcerated in jail or prison (nor those outside of prison for that matter). We do not encourage nor discourage you from doing so but we suggest that if you decide to write an incarcerated individual to use common sense when doing so.
What is murderabilia?
Another word created by the media. It's meaning? The media uses this word to get peoples interest and attention in what they are selling them. Simply, we collect items from some of the most notorious men & women that have been brought to the attention of the public generally through means of the news media. Networks like Court TV, Discovery, The Learning Channel, CNN, FOXNews, etc. have made many of these criminals household names. There is nothing uncommon about an interest in the darker side of history; In fact, research conducted by professionals shows that it is indeed normal human behavior to be interested in what we do not understand and we cannot control. Perhaps by studying these types of individuals, one day we will know more about what sets them off or find common ground among some of them that can help us to identify them before such horrific crimes are committed.
Why do you glorify killers?
We do NOT glorify anyone.
We simply present the facts as they are and offer a rare opportunity to own
various pieces of criminal history. Collecting of this type of memorabilia is
nothing new and has been going on as far back as the criminals written about
in the History books.
Items from the various Jack the Ripper suspects have been one of interest to
individuals since the days of his crimes. Let's not forget that the Jack the
Ripper case was the first documented serial killing case, though these individuals
were not referred to as "serial" killers until more recently.
Why should inmates be making money off their crimes by selling these things?
We do not enter into business
arrangements with any inmates. Be aware that MOST inmates in the US are indeed
permitted to sell artwork or other items for profit, even in these so called
Son-Of-Sam states such as CA and TX. Many inmates, even those in prisons for
minor crimes, have no family or loved ones in the outside world and would not
even have the small permitted credit on their prison accounts to be able to
buy things like deodorant or soap unless they sold artwork, drawings, poetry
or other items. In many prisons, there are craft stores where you can buy items
made by the prisoners; a portion of the money goes onto the prisoner's books.
Among the inmates most popular customers to whom the inmates sell their items
are the correctional officers, doctors and other staff that work inside these
prisons. There has been a tradition of this practice throughout the history
of prisons and correctional facilities as long as people have been incarcerated.
Would you rather keep paying more and more in taxes to house millions of people
in the United States alone, or allow the ones who choose to make a small amount
of money in which to buy their own hygeine products, clothes, postage stamps
and stationary? Indigent prisoners are entitled to things which are given to
them and because these inmates have no money on their books, who do you think
ends up paying the bill? You, the taxpayer.
Popular auctions sites such as eBay permit many prisoner-created items, search
for 'prison art' or similar terms and take a look and see for yourself. The
media only targets high profile inmates for criticism of allowing items into
the hands of interested parties.
How do I know the items you are selling are real and not fake?
We suggest you be careful before purchasing crime related items. Believe it or not, there are quite a bit of fake pieces, such as drawings and signatures floating around. All items offered by us come with a lifetime guarantee and are fully authenticated by us. We have been collecting such items since 1992 and have gotten them directly from the source as often as we can. We've spent thousands of hours researching, reading, writing and doing all the leg work in order to offer such a vast majority of items from so many of the world's most infamous criminals. You can be sure that what we offer is the real thing and nothing less!
What do you have to say to the victims families?
Without the media, we would have never heard of most of these infamous historical cases. We have never sought out victims families as others would do. There's enough of the media hunting down families of murdered victims to sell more violence and death on the TV and in the newspapers. We would never consider reminding anyone of their losses and neither should others. We do not advertise this website and quite honestly if you don't like what you see, leave!
Is it true that the State of TX has been confiscating your mail to inmates?
A person out of Houston, TX recently stated on television he was in possession of letters/personal mail which the Texas Department of Corrections had "confiscated". When we viewed the program and saw the display of crime memorabilia Mr. K had on display we immediately recognized the items as those that were auctioned off in the late 1990's and purchased by Mr. K. This gentlemen bought SEVERAL items from us and other ebay sellers in 1998 and 1999. We would just like to clarify that Mr. K purchased these items from the auction site eBay and if he indeed has letters that were confiscated, they are not the ones he had on display.
Do you give interviews?
No.
Why not?
We are not interested in entertaining those individuals who manipulate the facts, knowingly mis-lead the public, deliberately take things out of context and are only looking for sensationalism and ratings.
